Peugeot Boxer First Service - Page 2 Empty Re: Peugeot Boxer First Service

Post by Caraman Wed Apr 07, 2021 5:29 pm

I've just got hold of a servicing schedule.  It's a PDF document so I will summarise it for normal (not arduous) use:

*Check Systematic Operations every 32k/2 years
*Replace oil & filter every 32k/2 years
*Replace brake fluid every 2 years
*Replace passenger compartment filter (pollen) every 32k/2 years
Replace diesel fuel filter every 32k/4 years
Replace air filter every 32k/4 years
Check PH of coolant 96k/4 years then every 32k/2 years
Check particle emission filter additive level 64k then every 32k
Check clogging of the particle emission filter 96k then every 32k
Replace timing kit, coolant pump & ancillary drive belt kit every 96k/10 years

*needed for the first 2 year service to preserve 3 year warranty

The dealer who gave me the above information quoted £393.78 for a 2 year service.  The dealer who quoted £530.42 must have been quoting for a 4 year service even though he knew it was only 2 years.  I'll keep shopping around.

The authorised engine oil is 00W30 B71 2312 (C1C2) - EM:00W30 B71 2312

Glyn,
That's exactly what I got.  I hope I copied it accurately.  I can't do photos either - I really ought to learn! smile!

I agree - its what we should all have been given on handover but I can find no record of it.  I expected it to be in the warranty/record of servicing booklet but it isn't.

Not sure if the newer engines are different, but I noticed the caveat in our 2017 Symbol that the 1 year service isn't just for 'arduous' use, it's also for those vehicles doing under 6k miles (if memory serves), which for a lot of motorhomes will be the case.

Personally trying to get anywhere with Peugeot was a nightmare and I opted for a service by an independent motorhome specialist to carry out the full engine service which they also include habitation check.  As long as they use OEM parts the warranty is in tact, but to be honest with the mileage's most of us do, the vehicle warranty will be long gone before any issues arise and most claims will be for the AS side of things.

If worried go Peugeot for peace of mind, otherwise just use a trusted independent and confirm with them to use OEM parts.

On the hand over they should explain the service will be on the 2 year as is mark on the picture above that I posted . The 1 year is for vehicles doing just short runs with a vehicle and is then very low mileage.unless your someone just going to the shop a short distance then you would  be in the 1 year service as shown in the picture

All our cars and caravans have been serviced locally and through the dealer whilst under warranty.  The problem we have with the motorhome is that it requires two services, the nearest dealerships are miles away in different directions and we've got to hang around whilst the work is done.  We are taking the van back to Willersey for its second habitation service but that's largely because we like the area and can combine it with a trip and whilst the service is being carried out we can walk to the Broadway Tower and/or Broadway.  They will cary out a vehicle service at Willersey with the habitation service but they don't recommend it whilst the Peugeot still under warranty.  Sooner or later we will be going down the local independent route if only for practical reasons and it should save us money.

Unfortunately it's not local - I take it to MG Caravans in Royston, Herts and they provide a good complete service - I know someone near though so easy to pop by and have a cuppa while I wait or I go with the missus following in the car and we go out for the day before picking it up in the afternoon.

Coming up in a few months is our first 2 years service for the Kemerton XL, I'll be taking it back again to JCT600 on Sticker Lane Bradford who have been most helpful in the past.

A few months from new the engine warning light came on which was sorted with a software update. Whilst there I discussed the missing rear door restrictor buttons with both the Parts Department and Service Reception. They took photos and contacted Peugeot. Later I got the door stays replaced under warranty so each rear door could now be held at 90 degrees, and with the button depressed opened past 180.
There also was a product recall, more a check on the security of a brake pipe under the bonnet.
In Reception they seemed to have an unlimited supply of coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits so my wait wasn't so bad after all.

I believe there is another product recall that's due though I'm unsure now what it is, perhaps a check on some part of the suspension. At least going to a Peugeot main dealer you hope these sort of things wont be missed.

The recent recall for boxer relaxes-vous mentioned affects those between 1/4/2019 and 30/6/2019. Front hub assembly fixing onto front damper may not be correct spec.

Thanks Kdc that might well affect our van, that's most helpful. Last year JCT600 phoned about the possibility of me booking the van in for a service, but distance wise we'd done few miles, we're not a delivery van. I'm expect a phone call from them soon and will mention this recall when they do.

One major thing that comes to mind with the main dealer-----

STICK A NOTE ON VAN  "PLEASE DO NOT JET WASH" my fridge and other inlets are clean thank you!

I say this as I noticed the jet wash guy has a very powerful machine, I saw him cleaning an Open Reach van and it was rocking!

VW are not much better, when our Topaz broke down in Yeovil, they cleaned it with some thing that left streak marks on the plastic, which I could not remove, looked like bleach stains to me.

Thank you Greyhound - That's good to know as that was our intended choice and not too bad distance wise as we are on the Herts/Essex border.  smile!

Peugeot Boxer First Service - Page 2 Empty Service plan

Post by purdyhorse Mon Apr 19, 2021 3:28 pm

I too have a March 2019 Warwick XL with 5000 miles on the clock. When I bought it in March 2019 I took out a service plan with Startin Peugeot, my local Peugeot dealer, at a cost of £18.04 per month.
When its first service was due in March 2021 I had declared SORN because of Covid so Startin collected my vehicle using trade plates, serviced and valeted the vehicle and returned it to me the same day, all covered by my service plan and so preserving my Warranty. Perhaps you might be able to take out a similar plan.

Just had the first service at 2 years, asked about any recalls, was told they always check the day before the van goes in for service, if any required, chatted about what the tyre sensors were set at, but they said they would be set to the vehicle recommended value. I thought it would be nice to know, they would not change the preferences even if I wanted them to do it

Interesting about recalls.  For Peugeots they can be checked on-line by entering the VIN.  Non are currently due on my Peugeot.  I have an eight year old BMW I have had since new.  It was only serviced at my local BMW dealer for its warranty period so it hasn't been near them for years.  This didn't stop them contacting me the other day about a safety recall which I had done last week and involved quite a bit of free work (followed by a free health check and free valet).  Having a vehicle serviced through a dealer is not a pre-requisite for them carrying out safety recall work.  On the TPMS issue, Peugeot dealers should only adjust it if recommended in writing by the tyre manufacturer which it was in my case.  They shouldn't adjust it on the whim of the owner alone.

There was this one, though I've not done my VIN number check to see if our 2019 Boxer van is affected. (A previous recall was to check on the brake pipes which our Peugeot dealer did)

We have a late 2018 Ducato,  I enquired with my local Fiat Pro dealer about servicing. Although the service book says 20000 miles or 2 years for its first service, the head mechanic recommended a yearly service if the mileage is below about 8000 a year.
Luckily, we use ours a lot and it was serviced at 2 years with 18000 miles on the clock. Cost was about £350 which included brake fluid change.
A few years ago, we had an Autosleeper based on a Peugeot. First service after 2 years and 16000 miles cost about £480 at the dealer in Canterbury. Expensive and I wasn’t happy with the way they dealt with a warranty issue later, which, after I complained, resulted in one of the mechanics losing his job. I would never go back there.
