access to Bed Lockers

Hi Everyone
    on our new Gloucester we now have to lift up the side seats to get to the lockers,did I read a post about someone fitting tailgate struts to hold the up

Peter posted some photos of the gas struts he has installed a couple of days ago - I did the same a few years ago. Further details available if necessary.

Hi Everyone
   I have just looked at our offside bed locker and it has no outerframe so it would not be an easy job to fit gas struts so any other ideas? also great design it hits the side of the worktop

Must have changed it for mine but you could fix a batten to the walls at each side for the strut. With the struts on, the bed doesn't go as high as the worktop so not a problem.

  I must learn how to do pictures,I have the wooden slates but also metal rods that look like they go into an aluminium square bar.It is kept up by a metal rod that unclips from the bottom

Yes, that's how they all started. Peter and I replaced them with the gas struts.

    I can fix timber to the side of kitchen unit for gas struts but there is no side frame work on the seat frame to fix too just the slates

I think you will have to post a photo or two. I can't visualise the problem from your description.

As the top and bottom layer slats are interweaved so it can be pulled out to double width, I can't imagine how it could be constructed without a frame - do try and get a picture posted.
