Removing Nuevo fresh water tank

Anyone had any experience of removing the freshwater tank from an 06 old style Nuevo, please. I have a leak on top somewhere and need to drop the tank to find it. Spinney motors claim they want £600+ to do it.

Are you sure you have a leak? On my 2012 van water overflows when I fill the tank full from a breather hole at the top!

That reply pleases me. I had a slow drip when I filled the tank with the whale connector and hoped it was a breather but wasn't sure if it had one.

Even if not the overflow, if its right on the top, does it matter? Presumably as the level falls it stops leaking.

I think you are overfilling it Peter.  Quite a few of the vans do this

Sorry! It is unlikely that you would have only just noticed the 'leak' if you have had it that long.
I had to drop my tank a tad to adjust it in its straps to avoid the water sensor wires being chafed! That was awkward enough and I only had to slacken off the straps a little.

When I fill I always wait until it overflows the breather pipe, I think it helps keep the pipe clear and tells me when the tank is full. I think they changed the position of the tank not long after mine was build, it is fitted central under the van above the exhaust pipe with a heat shield, to remove it will mean taking off the exhaust, and we all know what a game that can be

If you can complete your profile then we will know the age of your van. I think mine may clear the pipe but am not sure without looking. However, inlet and outletpipes and cables still make it a major task.

I have checked my profile and it does say Nuevo, year 2002. Anyway just had a look under the van, the silencer is situated below the tank and I can't see how it can be removed without dropping complete exhaust and disconnecting the rear brake rod. The tank is situated between the chassis members and is quite tight and can't really see how it is fixed. Not even able to get my hands to the top of the tank.

Thanks - Mine is 10 years younger and the tank is secured by straps which I was able to slacken to release some trapped wires which were in danger of being cut through by the chassis. Still have not looked to see if exhaust fouls it or not. I am quite lucky as tank has an access cap on the bottom to allow pump replacement.  But electrics to a new pump could be interesting!
