Nuevo Fresh Water Tank Leaking Empty Nuevo Fresh Water Tank Leaking

Post by Fat Albert Mon Jun 04, 2012 7:00 pm

Hi all

Fat Albert (Nuevo EK) decided to celebrate the jubilee by springing a leak from around the fresh water tank inspection hatch. so_sad

I have removed the 10 screws that hold the flange to the tank, removed the flange and cleaned of all of the sealant which was a black rubbery compound.

All that remains is to refit and hopefully all will be well but I have no idea what the sealant was or what to use in its place. All I know is that it does not appear to be silicon based. scratch head

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Hi there FatAlbert up!

Our Nuevo had a very small drip from the inspection hatch, so while it was in Auto-Sleepers recently I asked them to look at it and they confirmed someone had previously tried sealing it and made a bit of a bodge doing so, so they had to completely remove all the silicone gunge and had to ensure everything was thoroughly cleaned up and dry before re-sealing with what they refered to as a "special sealant" which I'm not sure but wonder if this could be something like CT1 as I understand this is foodsafe and designed for these kind of applications? all I can tell you is the service centre told us you must not use ordinary silcone...

I'm sure if you call Mark at the service centre and ask what sealant they recommend they will advise you correctly.
