side lights

Hi. just noticed that some marker lights aren't working on my 2013 wiltshire merc
theres 3 side markers on each side,
2 at the top front & 2 at the top rear.
the rear top and 2 side rears are working, but the front top and 2 side fronts aren't working.
i checked the bulbs and they are fine.
so i thought it's a broken wire somewhere, so i tapped into the wiring where i knew it worked and wired it up to a side marker light.
now the one i tapped in to doesn't work and the other sides are flashing occasionly but the majority of the time aren't working either?
i disconnected the link wire and it's still doing it?

any ideas pls? this is baffling me

thanks for that, just had a look and mines EM40, took the fuse out and disconnected it from the batteyr but still doing the same?

right put it all back to how it was and now it's working how it was.
not flashing anymore but still the front 2 side markers & front top markers aren't working
any ideas pls?

Normally the marker lamps are simply wired through the sidelight circuit ie when you turn on the sidelights the marker lamps also come on. Are the lamps fitted in a fibreglass  pod? if so check the earthing is good to the bulb holders.

they defo go through the EM40 as theres a fuse that says marker lights, no they aren't in a fibreglass pod, there's 2 wires that go to a bulb holder for the side lights which holds a halogen bulb, and the fronts are led's

just spoke to sargent to see if they couls shed some light on it.
they said the rear ones are powered by the EM40 but the ones that ren't working they think are powered by the mercedes side.
i've checked all fuses that i could find with no joy.....

I no longer have my Merc to check but I think all interface between Merc and chassis is fused on the door side panel on the side of the drivers seat and connections are made under that seat.

thanks for that, i've checked all those fuses and they're all good sadly

If you read the book linked above it suggests that a relay to control those lights should be under the drivers seat.

found the relay, swapped it for the one beside it, and still didn't work
tested the red coming in and that read 13v, tested the yellow/black as thasts the colour of the marker wire and it read 0.03 v so i'd guess the signal wire is a fault somewhere?
am i right? if so where the earth does it get the signal from lol

Does you van run a Can bus system , this can cause problems if wires are changed as it detects a change and thinks there is a problem

yes it's a merc they are notorious for the canbus, but nothing was changed before it went wrong that i know of

Have you put back to original wiring and the initial problem, check that all order lamps are working non brighter than the other which indicates an earth fault

i have checked all fuses
