VEBA Reversing Camera Empty VEBA Reversing Camera

Post by PLOUGHLIN Sun Jan 25, 2015 12:19 am

I have Veba AV70 reversing camera in my van, screen hooks over rear view mirror. Any body got a copy of user manual they could supply. Have tried contacting Veba but no response.

TIA

The manual is just a piece of paper.  I will scan it.

I used Pete's link to add the actual image. I was surprised to find that I could edit his image on Photobucket wrt brightness etc and then save it!

Pete/Peter,

Quick question. What comes up with the menu button, is a list or scroll through for brightness, contrast etc.

But brightness, contrast etc are all on the menu button ! hugegrins up!

Seriously, yes, menu brings up brightness, contrast, colour and maybe even volume. The mode button lets you swap from mirror view to turning round view and even lets you stand on your head.

Some versions have touch buttons on the right hand side which are more convenient than the remote.

What the manual does NOT tell you is that the monitor has a memory.  It always remembers where it was when the ignition was switched off which can be a real pain.  So you reverse into a space or onto the pitch, apply the handbrake, switch off the ignition and then put the van in neutral. Later, you start the engine to drive away and are surprised that the monitor is on, even though you have driven off forwards without engaging reverse.  By this time you are in traffic and need to fumble for the remote to switch the monitor off. If you remember to shift into neutral BEFORE cutting the ignition then the monitor starts off blank as normal.

So, if that happens to you, it is not a fault.

BTW  A/S started to use no button monitors because the buttoned type were prone to interfere with radios.

Public Postings. Photographs and videos which you submit for use on public areas on Photobucket are considered public information and may be copied or further distributed by others in accordance with the Terms of Use...

How did you put the improved image into the post?

Later, you start the engine to drive away and are surprised that the monitor is on, even though you have driven off forwards without engaging reverse.

We use it as a rear view mirror so it works when going forward.  After Marquis rewired it with two feeds it goes off when you select reverse and the comes back on using the reversing light feed.  If you just want a reversing camera you could just take the power from the reversing light feed.

Thanks for the user explanations. I prefer to have the monitor on when driving as not having a rear window, especially when towing the Smart, I like to see if I am being followed. When I reverse the monitor comes on but if I switch off ignition (or out of gear), then on again to move forward the monitor is off. I have to use remote to switch it on again, but it is not very responsive, taking multiple on button pushes before it obeys. Have tried new battery with little or no improvement. Will have to trace the wiring and see about adding a forward +feed. Any body know where to look?

Click on the 'IMG' box.  The contents will change to 'copied' then paste into the post.  It will appear as a text link but if you do a preview or save then the image itself is displayed.

But presumably you can edit HIS post because you are staff?

I can do the same thing by pasting the link into his quote on my reply but cannot add it into his post.

VEBA Reversing Camera Empty reversing camera

Post by lyn Mon Sep 21, 2015 6:12 pm

Have a 2015 Symbol and the reversing camera has an opaque image on it which I cant seem to get rid of.  Does anyone have any ideas how I can get the proper image back.  Have tried the remote but no success.   Lyn

I like to use the camera when towing motorbikes on trailer to check every thing is secure. Unfortunately fumbling for the remote and trying to hit the right button on a slow to respond device in not really possible / safe while driving. A simple button on the side of the mirror would be so much easier. They are within reach after all.

Is this the mirror that is fitted to the new van conversions ?  And if so can it be set to be on all the time with the ignition on?  That's how I want it on the new Kingham.

You have a 2015 van.  Does the monitor have some kind of protector over the screen which has not been removed? Or are you seeing the reflection from the half-silvered screen - they are designed to work as a rear view mirror as well as a monitor.  When I use mine as a full time on camera I have to tilt the monitor down so that I cannot see the mirror image out of the rear window of the van.
