newbie joining

Hi,
Joined because we are looking to buy a newish "Executive" . Got very close to one nearby [in Ayr at border cars] but then had to postpone purchase until September, as we will be in France from end May until then, (not in a motor home sadly). When search resumes in Autumn it will still be for an Executive, ideally the 50th anniversary model. The layout and equipment suits us both. not sure exactly why moncoque GRP construction is such an asset though. Did get side tracked by a Hobby Premium Van 55, but the aberration did not last. Although we have not yet raised out status to "Owners", we have found this forum useful. I would welcome any buying hints or info on possible "quirks" of this model, from forum members or even Executive owners

When you say "newish executive" do you mean one of theses:-

As the whole body is moulded in one piece, there are no seams to leak. The only places that could leak are around windows and rooflight as opposed to traditional caravan type construction where you have separate roof, sides, back and front panels all with seams that could leak.

PaulMold - thanks for enlightening me about one piece constructions , makes sense once you know!

The one in Border cars has a number of holes drilled in the roof to take a hideous (imo) satcom antenna, didn't look like too careful a fitting to me, the antenna cable into the vehicle appeared to be a casual mastic "blob up" job, I might have expected a proper cable gland.Although the satcom thingy looked like an big money toy, not my kind of thing really.

Hoopman - we are looking at the 50 Anniversary one, one a Peugeot boxer . I believe they started manufacture of these in 2011, and yes its the same one as the one at Marquis. They are too far away , given that there was (is) one in Ayr that was nearer. The vehicle does seem at bit pricey , but in the end you get what you pay for (hopefully) , and its important that you are happy with it and can live with your decision.
