Went into Morecambe today. Another Symphony parked on the promenade (still there 3 hours later) so left a calling card under wipers and got a friendly wave from an Executive (well I think it was an Executive).

By the way a lot of the prom has no parking restrictions and so you could wildcamp by the look of it. Also fuel price at Morrisons much cheaper than back home - 135.9 diesel and 131.9 petrol so filled up to the brim.

En route from Carnforth to Kirkby Lonsdale, a Trident pulled out in front of me at Whittington, must live there as it came out of a residential road. Disappeared too fast to note reg number. These VW based vans are everywhere!!

If you go to Morcambe and want a nice parking place overlooking the sea drive out of town North and park up at Hest Bank there is free parking and its a very relaxing place. You have to come off the road left and over the level crossings. If you feel inclined there is a small cafe there and a nice walk. I have no problems parking the Windsor there and you may consider it a good wild camping spot.

Hi Roli,
We are actually staying at Bolton-le-Sands which is the next village up from Hest Bank. If you turn left after the Texaco petrol station, over the railway bridge , immediately left and follow the road to the shore you come to Red Bank farm which is where we are. It has a cafe on site but we've not tried it yet. Site overlooks the sea (or should I say mudflats). There is a wreck of a Range Rover sunken in the mud just to warn you. The tide here comes in at a terrific rate.

Today we got an enthusiastic wave from a Pollenza and saw another Executive parked in someones driveway just as you leave Bolton towards Carnforth.

Last day up here on the Lancashire coast. Only saw one other AS today, a Duetto parked on the main A6 in Milnthorpe. Saw quite a few other MH's but not one of them waved.

Oh well, back home now. Almost as soon as we left the site at Bolton-le-Sands we saw a Trident going towards Carnforth and literally 2 seconds later an 09 Topaz going the other way. Then as we joined the M56 off the M6 a Talisman joined the motorway just ahead of us.

Seen in Morecambe today Empty calling card

Post by green ant Thu Jun 23, 2011 11:27 am

hi, paul.
we lived up in morecambe for a few years, it was quite usual for campers to be parked on the prom. bit noisy on a friday and sat evening.
There is a little pub called the packet boat at bolton le sands its under new management now so dont know them.
close to the cannel for an evening stroll.
a friendly word and im sure they would let you stop over in there small c.p.

could be of interest to members if i have posted this in the right place.

When we collect our sleeper we intend to mainly wild camp for odd nights. and other with relatives. One of our reasons to have a auto sleeper /camper some where to leave the dog if we eat out.
