Loose TV aerial.
I arrived home yesterday to find the tv aerial detached from its moorings. The cable is fine but what looks like a membrane - maybe the "glue" that holds aerial in place - was torn. I have taped the aerial in place meantime but doubt if tape will keep it intact at motorway speeds. Can the cable be relied on to stop aerial flying off? I am planning to go away again this week-end so probably won't be able to have it repaired properly first. Not bothered if I have to cancel though if necessary.

Either remove completely or fix permanently.
It may well detach at speed and you will be liable if it causes an accident,
especially as you have acknowledged the problem.

If I cut the cable at aerial end is it easy to replace it altogether? I don't need it as I don't watch television. Just thinking ahead if were to sell later on.

Why not disconnect the cable rather than cut it? Cutting it may leave it too short to be able to connect to a new aerial.

Re: Loose TV aerial.
If its a "flying saucer" type of aerial it'll work equally well if removed!
Should be easy enough to make up a bung (poss even availabe online?) and seal it with sikaflex.

Re: Loose TV aerial.
Thanks all. Since my last post I have cut the cable and taped over aperture meantime. From the look of cable inside there should be enough to reconnect - though pushing it up from inside had no effect on outside and after cut it wouldn't pull down - so I don't understand that. It is indeed flying saucer type but I was told the TV doesn't work as a television receiver anyway. It's supposed to work for DVDs etc but I haven't tried that yet.

Best thing as the winds at NEBay can be fierce, especially so at the Mull enjoy.
