Gap between awning & van

New owner of Pollensa on Ford Transit (03) fitted with Fiamma F45 awning. There is a big gap between the side of the van and the awning at the top which means that if the awning is deployed when it rains I will get wet as I enter and exit the van.
Has anyone fitted anything between the van and awning to seal the gap? We are looking at a DIY solution, but any suggestion would be most welcome.

I don't know the Pollensa model but owning a Duetto, which is also a Ford Transit conversion, I think that the only reply is "There shouldn't be a gap!"; and definitely not one that allows a significant amount of rainwater through!

Perhaps a photograph would help.

There may well be a gap depending on the angle the awning sits at - there is on the Clubman - maybe you should look into this........

The Pollensa is a coachbuilt and the awning is mounted on what appear to be mounting blocks on the side of the van, thus not flush with the van wall, hence the gap. We did mount an awning on my old Mazda Bongo van & that had no gap!

I looked up the Fiamma rainguard (thanks for the link), has anyone deployed one? I wonder how effective it is & what kind of seal it makes with the van wall.

I would recommend the Fiamma Rainguard. After fitting one to our Symbol the water dripping between the body and awning ceased to be a problem. We also use a Fiamma side blocker so the sliding door can remain open when it is raining.

I have a rainguard fitted to the awning on my Eton which also is a coachbuilt model and it has proved to be very effective letting in no rain or drips at all.

The rainguard comes in several widths depending on the gap between awning and sidewall of MH so make sure you get the correct size, there is plenty of info' on the "Fiammastore" website.
