Burford Duo 2019 Empty Burford Duo 2019

Hi
We have the factory fit rear corner steadies on our Burford Duo but to reach the wind down bolt the winding handle had to be attached so it’s just about on and at an angle, problem is the are mounted about 30mm too high, anyone else had this issue.

Not entirely clear what you mean.  Is it that when you insert the winder through the hole on the rear GRP skirt, it can only reach the bolt-head of the winder mechanism of the steady if the winder is angled upwards, making it difficult to locate the socket on the bolt-head?

That's my problem.  Gromit has devised and shared a solution using plastic piping - but my technical skills are insufficient to try it!

Hi Cymro. The locate you are correct on but the Burford Duo (ours) Doesn’t have the skirt holes, this has been confirmed today by AS via our dealer, the only way to see the bolt is to lay down on the ground almost then the AS handle or extension socket I purchased is not fully home on the bolt and scrapes the underside of the skirt.
Very poor design again by AS

Hi we have a 18 plate,and have the same problem.I started to use a socket and ratchet but as another member says you have to lie down under the van to locate it. We don’t have any holes in the side skirt either so I just locate the wheel brace and wind as fast as I can.Obviously no thought was given to this operation from AS.  Regards Mark.

           Just a couple of thoughts, I hate cutting into anything but cannot the skirt be trimmed neatly back in a semicircle to get proper access, or failing that could some spacers be made up to drop the corner steady access below the skirt

The dealer was going to cut the skirt as you say, but at the moment I’m looking if as you say a bracket could be made to lower them slightly 👍

Just thinking about solutions, quite possibly both rubbish ideas but there must be a solution to a quite shocking design!!
The nut on the leg is just a standard size that adapters will fit.

They would help but you still have to lay down to see the winder nut as it’s about 400mm in from the side skirt, I have a long extension bar but the angle means you are on the edge of the nut.

It’s surely is, but so are other issues that AS and to be fair other manufacturers ignore. We been involved in the MH life for 3 yrs and any other industry that treated customers as some MH manufacturers do would have gone out of business, problem is we all love the life

I have this issue with my 2017 Corinium, the skirt holes are there but the adjuster is at an angle pointing up....it’s a pain but it doesn’t trouble me now I’ve gotten used to it....
The problem is actually getting the winder... off.....when I lower the legs but put too much load on them.

Can we get things clear gents,,,, There are NO Rubbish Ideas on this forum.  Just because one or two may think something is not how they would do something it doesn’t mean it’s wrong

Burford Duo 2019 Empty Battery Drill

I use a battery drill with a socket(the type used for caravan legs cut down in length) in it works brilliant,only need to kneel next to van drill will wind legs down even with the weight of the van.
