Hi All

Just a quick message to say 'hi'; back in November my wife and bought our first camper, a 1999 Symphony on a Peugeot Boxer 2.0 petrol chassis. I've spent a few evenings and weekends changing the front crossmember, clutch cable etc. and we're almost ready for the season! Our first big trip will be in June when we plan to head round the top of Scotland; we lived in Aberdeen for a couple of years and we were brought up on the West Coast of Scotland and are looking forward to exploring some bits we've not seen before!

Now I've sorted out all the niggles I'm liking the Boxer chassis - very simple and the petrol version seems to be much more refined than the diesels we drove. I seem to be getting around the 30 mpg mark too which is fine.

Hi Andy, welcome to the forum wave

Wish I could get 30 mpg out of mine, best I get is around 25, and that's on a run.
By changing the front cross member, do you mean the one under the radiator or the one supporting the front suspension?
Love the Highlands, where were you brought up?

Thanks for your reply; yes, it was the crossmember under the radiator that I changed. Very easy; only six bolts and it took less than an evening. I gave it two coats of Hammerite before fitting it too. The old one probably wasn't an MOT failure - yet - but I do like to have my cars in good shape so the old crossmember had to go!

Although born in the Midlands (!) I spent most of my schoolyears in Helensburgh, approx 25 miles north of Glasgow and on the edge of the Highlands. It's good to go back but not in winter or indeed when the midges are out!

One daughter's best mate lives in Helensburgh and my other daughter lives in Aberdeen.
Helensburgh on the edge of the Highlands? give over, your not in the Highlands until Rannoch Moor biggrin
