Nuevo Pump Running on Empty Nuevo Pump Running on

Post by Wearsider Thu Aug 16, 2012 6:45 am

I have a November 2010 Marquis Lancashire II ES (Auto-Sleeper Nuevo) where the water pump which was occasionally running on is now doing so on a permanent basis. The AutoSleepers Handbook indicates that this points to a major leak in the water system but none is apparent. However I need to check the integrity of the whole system. Can anybody give me guidance on how this can be systematically tackled. Alternatively could there be another cause for this problem.

Hi My vehicle is nothing like yours, but I get the same problem when the water tank is almost empty which I assume is why AS say it could be a major leak.

The pump continues to run even though nothing is switched on.

I have to turn the 12V system off, and fill the tank that usually clears it, it coughs and splutters a bit until the air is cleared from the system.

I would try that first.

Yes - that's a normal characteristic: when the clean water tank is nearly empty, the pump will run continuously (sucking up air and insufficient water) although no taps are open. Answer is as stuartneale1 says above.

Its the inline pressure pump that needs adjusting look on the Whale web site for details on how to re-set the pressure valve mine is situated below the wardrobe on the washroom wall panel . I had the same problem and eventually found it was the micro switch in the pump that was sticking and the pump was replaced f.o.c through marquis , but the old one seems ok after re-adjusting , so I have a spare new pump incase the original one fails.

Thank you to everyone for their very prompt response to the problem outlined in my earlier post. The pump runs on regardless of how full or otherwise the tank is so I will pursue Nuevo II EK's suggestion that it is the in-line pump that needs adjusting. I will advise of the outcome in due course.

We have the same problem with our Nuevo EK most of the time it is Ok but then starts playing up and will not stop. On mine there is a round wheel on the micro switch and you have to pull out the drawer under the wardrobe then open the wardrobe door then it is on the right just below the bottom of the drawer. If you just turn it a bit it will stop but not sure whether to turn it clockwise or anti-clockwise. It has already been reset twice by my dealer but just plays up again. Bit of a pain but at least I now know how to stop it for a while. Anybody know which is the correct way to turn it? confused3 confused3

Following Nuevo II EK's 1st post I had already traced the whale guidance sheet to which a link was provided in his 2nd post.

This adjustment proved to be the solution to the problem. All sorted in about 10 minutes. A trip to Brownhills and one of their nice little bills happily avoided.

Thank you Nuevo II EK for your help

Nuevo Pump Running on Empty Water Pump

Post by murph Tue Aug 21, 2012 1:48 pm

Hi Wearsider,
Another possibility is a serious air leak between the tank and the pump, if this is the case the pump will suck air instead of water and will tick for evermore.

I have just seen a Whale advert in the latest issue of the CCC magazine about a new Watermaster Pump Controller which says you never need to adjust your pressure switch again. It says it can be easily retro-fitted to any Whale Watermaster pressure switch socket.
Now my question is whether my 2011 Nuevo II EK which has a Whale plug in system can be changed for this system as I have constant problems with the pressure switch? smile!

Whoa there!!

Before you go spending money analyse your problem!

You state ".... as I have constant problems with the pressure switch" so the question is "Why?" especially as millions of us do not have any problems at all!!

A few things that will make a pressure switch stop working properly are:

1. There is insufficient water available so therefore the pump cannot achieve the pressure required to trip the switch.

2. The pump is "air-locked" and therefore cannot achieve the pressure required to trip the switch.

3. The pump diaphragm is ruptured or the pump is worn out so it isn't capable of putting up the required pressure.

4. The pressure switch has been set (or has "drifted") to a pressure higher than the pump can achieve.

5. There is a major leak and the pump cannot achieve adequate pressure. (This can be on the inlet or the outlet of the pump!)

6. The pressure switch itself is faulty and needs replacing.

The fitting you describe WILL NOT solve the first five problems!

Best regards,

Ian

Thanks Dutto I will get my dealer to look at it as they have already adjusted the pressure switch twice.
