Hi everyone,

My wife and I just bought a little old Renault Trafic RV50 Autosleeper (1984). It's pretty old but not done a lot of miles so while we get it ready for the first family outing we're looking around t'Internet and doing some research. I have always done my own mechanical work but it's been a while since I had something with no electronics at all. And I have never owned a camper or caravan before but have camped and hiked all my life, so this is a change for us and we have a lot to learn I expect.

Anyway hello everyone and no doubt we'll be posting a few questions, hoping there are some other older Trafic owners out there.

Al and Maddy

So long as you get enjoyment out of the van thats all that matters. There are quite a few of these old Renaults knocking about.

Hi Al & Maddy,
Welcome to the forum.
We started out with an RV50, great little van, loved it! although it wasn't perfect it suited most of our needs till we "came into some money" and splashed out on the Symphony. In many ways I still miss it - particularly when I'm putting petrol in the Symphony smile!

Hi there and welcome. Its more to do with the fact that you do it, not what you do it in! These are the correct words, but may not be in the correct order.
Hope you enjoy the forum , Fluffy best_friends

Thanks everyone, all I have to do is sort out a few odds and ends and find a working fridge, and we'll be off for a weekend test run. The wife drove it today and did pretty well so that's the co-pilot sorted up!

Hi Al & Maddy.
Welcome to the forum from Nottinghamshire. Its not the age of your van its what you do with it that counts.

Cheers. Whisky. champagne

The "standard" fridge in the RV50 was just gas & 12v. If you need to replace it, it would be a good idea to try to find a 3 way one (gas, 240v & 12v) to save gas when on a site with EHU. Assuming your van is wired for hook-up that is?
