On both the driver and passenger footsteps, that you stand on to get into the motorhome, the "non slip" surfaces have worn and need replacing. (It looks like very coarse sandpaper).
Anybody know where to get the replacement stuff from? I'm sure there must be a technical term for it! Thank you!

Any Chandlers will have something similar.

Or skate board shops!! Ours were replaced by the dealer before we bought our van, that's where they got it from!

Thanks for the advice. Looking at the remains of the anti-slip stuff on the footplate it looks like it's not going to be easy to remove it. Any further advice on how to do this? It looks well stuck down. Will it scrape off easily or will I need lashings of "thinners" to dissolve the old glue to get a nice clean sound base to stick the new stuff on?

You can get anti slip deck paint from chandlers (or eBay) so might be worth trying a coat of that over the existing and see if it lasts? Saves trying to get the old off.

The ASOC have an Ideas Sheet that explains how to repair / replace the grip material on the cab door steps.

Hi Pablo

I renewed the anti-slip on my Eton a couple of years ago the replacement material was supplied by Autosleepers I just phoned them up and they sent me about a metre strip of the stuff, it comes as a self adhesive tape which has to be cut to shape.

I first made a template based on the existing anti-slip  using thin card and marked this on the back of the tape which I then cut to shape using a pair of old scissors, the cutting is quite tough going on the scissors due to the abrasive nature of the tape.

Removal of the old tape was fairly easy by carefully pulling the tape back on itself starting at the narrow part, only a few bits of old adhesive were left behind and were easily removed with rag dampened with white spirit.

Care has to taken when aligning the new strip I found it best to peel the backing for about a couple of centimetres or so from one end only then align the strip tacking it down by the end bit only, this way it is easy to remove and realign if necessary, once you are satisfied that it is in line slowly peel the backing while smoothing the top to avoid air being trapped in a similar manner to the way decals are applied to commercial vehicles.

I can't remember how much AS charged for the strip but I know it was very reasonable.

It's worth bearing in mind that you need mirror images of the tapes i.e a left and right or port and starboard if you are of a nautical frame of mind.

The strip has been on my van for at least two years and is still looking as good as new (almost) hugegrins.

Hope this is of some help'

Cheers John up!.

Hi Pablo,
I bought a roll recently for the ramps on my trailer....got it from Screwfix, only downside is the roll contains way more than you will need.
