hi am new to my motorhome and my van battery has died.
Have purchased a new one , but am wary of the terminals sitting on the top!
Worried I may damage something in the process.
Is there anything I should be aware of?
Looks very technical!
Many thanks Heidi.confused3

Hi ,its the same as a car. The negative  connection - or earth is undone first, then the positive + .
When refitting the positive goes on first then the negative.

Any more questions please ask.

What a pity you've already bought replacement as I have one in the garage that I didn't need to have replaced and you could have had (if you weren't too far away).

It does look complicated with all the small screw terminals on the plate at the rear but once you have removed the bolts holding it to the tray and pulled it forward you will see that the connections are quite straight-forward.

Hi Heidi, The problem I had with my 2005 Nuevo was getting the battery out from under the seat. I had to take the swivel seat out which is held in place with 4 countersunk hexagon head screws which were lock tight in by autosleeper. Three came out but the forth needed a tap with a centre punch to start it, I then lifted the battery out through the top. Needless to say I didn't lock tight them back in just check they are tight occasionally. Jim

I assume when Heidi said her van battery she means her engine battery.

Hi Mike, I must admit I thought it was the leisure battery as when I have purchase a engine battery they are so heavy to get out on a boxer chassis I always go to a supplier who fits it for free (and keeps the old battery. However the info on the battery under the drivers seat is worth knowing. One other bit of info I forgot to mention is the swivel seat removal is best done by two people unless you want a spell recovering from a bad back or spending time retouching up the cab paintwork. Maybe we will find out later, I always close a thread with a done it thanks. Hl , many, many thanks for the replies.
Sorry never specified, meant the van, not leisure battery, but very useful info for future anyway.
Bit scared about the connections attached to the battery, but new battery in situ now.
Very pleased with myself and the result!
Also, many thanks for the offer of the battery, Paulmold.  You really are so kind.
Sorry for late reply, hectic weekend.
Heidi. up!

I reckon you were lucky.  On my 2001 Ducato Hymer I got the old battery out resonably easily. When I came to put the new one in it was about 1/2 cm longer and I had to remove the O/s headlamp to squeeze it in. Once in the headlamp was easily replaced!
